A study of the Hebrew word sheol (Strong's 7585) and the Greek words hades (Strong's 86), tartaroo (Strong's 5020), and gehenna (Strong's 1067). Every occurrence of the word hell in the King James Version is a translation from one of these four words.
The words in bold in the following verses, unless otherwise noted, are the King James Version translations of the Hebrew word sheol, and represent every occurrence of sheol in the Old Testament.
Genesis 37:34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.

Luke 12:4 And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
